    Interview with Grayson Kakau from Miss Kays

    We always want to know more about who creates the delicious mouth-watering burgers we all devour.

    So in an effort to find out more, we chatted to Grayson Kakau from Miss Kays, to find out more about their amazing burgers.

     

     

    Q: Can you tell us about your background and any career highlights?

    Grayson: I was brought up around the hospitality industry, so it is so familiar to me and continuing on in the field, just made sense. So far, I don’t think I have reached any major career highlights quite yet, but there is still plenty of time.

     

    Q: When people think of your restaurant they think of Mouth-Watering Burgers. Tell us about your approach to cooking.

    Grayson: Having the perfect mouth-watering burger starts with the buns. Here at Miss Kay’s our buns are cooked fresh daily, and that is the key. Our patties are also fresh, not frozen, seasoned lightly and the Pure Dairy Hi-Melt Cheese that we use is gooey and oozing to get that perfect American burger taste. That is how we create the best burgers.

     

    Q: What do you love about Pure Dairy’s Hi-Melt Cheese Slices? What distinguishes it from the rest?

    Grayson: Pure Dairy is in their own lane. Their Hi-Melt cheese is the best American style cheese we’ve used at our store. The fact that the Pure Dairy Hi-Melt cheese ensures that when the customers are given their meals, they are able to taste the cheese, rather than have a melted mess sitting in front of them is why we choose them.

     

    Q: We love your burgers, what would you consider the essential ingredients to make a good burger?

    Grayson: Simple is best. The most essential ingredients are a freshly cooked bun, fresh patty, Pure Dairy’s Hi-Melt cheese, burger sauce and simple salads, such as lettuce, tomato and onions.

     

    Q: What is your most popular item for your menu?

    Grayson: Our most popular burgers would have to be the classic Cheeseburger and our double Cheeseburger, which is a beef patty (two beef patties for the double), Pure Dairy’s American Hi-Melt cheese, pickles, onion, ketchup, mustard & M.K sauce. Coming in a close third is our M.K Special, which is a beef patty, maple bacon, onion rings, Pure Dairy’s American Hi-Melt cheese, Miss Kay’s fries, lettuce, sweet BBQ sauce and mayo.

     

    Q: What is your favourite ‘must try’ dish from your restaurant/venue?

    Grayson: Personally my favourite would either be our OG Burger, with added American Hi-Melt cheese of course. Or the Caesar Salad with grilled chicken.

     

    Q: We have seen the amazing work you do at your restaurant, what’s your approach to building a team across your various venues?

    Grayson: My approach is to ensure that the quality we deliver is consistent so that every customer knows that every time they come into one of our locations, that they are going to get the same great taste that Miss Kay’s offers.

    Q: Was there a light-bulb moment in your career that led you down this path?

    Grayson: Not really. Since I was kind of thrown into the hospitality industry at such a young age with my family, and being bought up around it, it just felt as though it was the right path to go down.

     

    Q: What are we seeing at the moment in the industry worthy of highlighting

    Grayson: At the moment in the industry we are seeing growth, despite an interesting couple of years. The growth at our stores specifically is great, as we have plans to open more venues in the near future.

     

    Q: When you’re not cooking burgers, what is your favourite restaurant?

    Grayson: When I am not cooking burgers, my favourite venues to go to would have to be Nando’s, or Kebab Palace in Mt Gravatt.
